City accommodation from apartment to budget accommodation and five star hotels
are all well located in the CBD, close to the shopping, cafes and main
attractions.
Ideal for families or for those staying for a longer period of time,
self-contained apartments or suite hotels come with various facilities such as a
microwave, toaster, fridge and tea and coffee making
facilities, or fully- equipped
kitchens including dishwashers, oven/cooktop and laundry facilities.
One of the most memorable ways to capture your stay in South Australia is in a
charming heritage bed & breakfast accommodation. This sort of
accommodation can be hosted or self-contained. Most of them have a colourful
history like a restored chapel, fire station or a miner's cottage and they are
all resplendently restored. Country properties are found in the hills, vineyards
and coastlines.
Hosted bed and breakfasts are a great way to meet the locals, as your room is
usually in the proprietor's home. Guests would have their own bedrooms and
bathrooms but they would have access to the common dining room and lounge areas.
With unhosted bed and breakfasts, you will have your own self-contained lodging
with breakfast provisions.
Backpacker and youth hostels are also available , while caravan parks, many with
luxury ensuite cabins, are just as great for families or those on a self-drive
holiday. A number of motels are also found in the city, beaches and suburbs with
easy public transport into the city.
For those with a preference for farm living, farm stays are available in the
country, from rustic old farm houses to converted shearer's quarters. You can
even help out with some of the farm chores!
Other accommodation opportunities include wilderness lodges, stately country
homes, self catering cabins and campsites under a spread of southern stars.

Houseboating is a novel way to stay on the Murray River. Ideal for families or
groups of friends from two to twelve passengers, the onboard facilities can vary
between houseboat operators. Most come
fully furnished with
well equipped
kitchens
(dishwasher, freezer, oven/cooktop, microwave), luxurious cabins,
spacious lounge areas, bathrooms with spas and decks for lazing in the sun.
Large paddle wheelers such as the Proud Mary and Murray Princess are very
popular for weekend and extended cruises, while onshore cabins, cottages,
caravans and campsites are also available along the river.
